W.Va. State to offer energy management courses


INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University will offer an energy management focus as part of its business courses.The Institute school says the program is aimed at supporting the state's oil and gas industry. It will be added to West Virginia State's bachelor of science degree in business administration.The program is a partnership between the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Business and Social Sciences. It will incorporate existing science and business courses with newly developed curriculum beginning in January.The program was developed after a meeting in January involving West Virginia State President Brian Hemphill and industry leaders.
Appalachian Power President and CEO Charles Patton says having employees who understand energy financial markets is beneficial to companies in the field of energy, business and strategic management.
