HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Union workers at Cabell Huntington Hospital have approved a new three-year contract.Hospital spokesman Charles Shumaker says in a news release that the contract includes wages, retirement and health coverage that rank at the top among health-care providers in West Virginia.
Members of Service Employees International Union District 1199 approved the contract Wednesday. The union represents 800 licensed practical nurses, lab workers and service and maintenance personnel at the hospital.District 1199 president Becky Williams tells media outlets full details of the contract are confidential. But she says the union made gains in wages and job bidding, and fought off major concessions sought by the company.
The proposed concessions included eliminating health insurance for retirees and part-time workers.
