Woman arrested for robbery at South Charleston store
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole clothes from a South Charleston store, then assaulted a clerk who tried to stop her.Shadonna Maenica Collins, 25, of Charleston, is charged with robbery, according to documents filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.Police say Collins was trying to steal a cart full of clothes, jackets and purses at Marshall's on RHL Boulevard in South Charleston Sunday, Nov. 24.
The woman tried to go through the front door without paying for the items, but store manager Tammie Woodrum stopped her and asked to see a receipt.Collins then struck Woodrum in the face/neck area, causing her to fall on the ground, police say. The cart fell on top of Woodrum.When she couldn't get the cart from Woodrum's grip, Collins kicked her in the face and chest, then fled the store with the shopping cart full of items.Police received an anonymous tip that Collins was the suspect. Woodrum also identified Collins in a lineup, according to police.
