Jackson fire chief passes away
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Jackson County volunteer fire chief died on the job Saturday.
Chief Charlie Pierson of the Southern Jackson Volunteer Fire Department died when he had a "medical event" while responding to an auto accident, according to a Facebook post from the West Virginia State Fireman's Association. Efforts to revive Pierson were not successful, according to the fireman's association.
A Jackson County dispatcher confirmed Pierson's death but offered no further details.
