Ritchie County speedway sale dispute settled
PENNSBORO, W.Va. -- A three-year-old legal dispute over the proposed sale of the former Pennsboro Speedway has been settled.
Media outlets report that Ritchie County Circuit Court Judge Tim Sweeney on Tuesday ordered the dissolution of the Ritchie County Agricultural and Fair Association's board. The association owns the 31-acre property.
Sweeney scheduled a Jan. 31 election to choose a new board. The new board will determine the property's future.
The association had planned to sell the property to the Ellenboro Volunteer Fire Department. Opponents went to court in 2010 to halt the sale.
The speedway hasn't hosted a race since 2002.
