UC gets recycling grant for vehicle, storage bins

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Recycling efforts are being expanded at the University of Charleston, thanks to a grant from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.The school received nearly $23,000 from the state agency's recycling assistance program.Officials say the money will be used to purchase a new utility vehicle with trailer to haul recyclable materials across campus.
Funding also will be used to buy a new dump bin for recyclable materials such as metal and glass.Two large recycling bins were set up on campus this fall to collect and separate items such as aluminum, plastic, cardboard and paper.Officials also worked with the Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority to set up recycling cans at all home football games.
