St. Albans man convicted on sex assault charges
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A St. Albans man was convicted Tuesday of 41 counts of sexual assault and abuse after abusing his girlfriend's granddaughters over five years.
Delbert Wileman, 56, was convicted in Kanawha Circuit Court on various counts of second-degree sexual assault; sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian; and displaying pornography to a minor. His sentence could come to hundreds of years, according to assistant Kanawha County prosecutor Fred Giggenbach.
Wileman had been the boyfriend of both victims' grandmother. The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department investigated the case after Wileman reported the grandmother's handgun missing, and one of the victims confessed to taking it after contemplating shooting Wileman, Giggenbach said.
Both victims then came forward with allegations that Wileman had sexually abused them for years.
Circuit Judge Duke Bloom will sentence Wileman on Feb. 7.
