Trail club hike
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike Sunday on the Thurmond/Minden Rail Trail. Meet at 12:30 p.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. The hike is about 6 1/2 miles on an easy, mostly level old railroad bed with an easy staircase up and over a rock area. There are good views of Thurmond. In case of bad weather, an alternate hike will be in Kanawha State Forest on Johnson Hollow/Logtown trails loop, which is about 2 miles.
Women's Day at Legislature
The West Virginia Women's Commission is hosting Women's Day at the Legislature Feb. 11 and 12 at the Culture Center and the Capitol. The two-day event is focused on public policy and features a panel discussion and public policy workshops to educate attendees on how to speak with their legislators. A separate youth component is also scheduled and is co-hosted by the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond. Registration is required and the cost is $55 for adults and free for youths.
