Medical educator, entrepreneur to speak at summit

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A West Virginia University professor and medical device entrepreneur will be the keynote speaker at a bioscience summit in Charleston.Dr. Mark Bates, a professor of medicine and surgery, holds more than 60 issued and pending patents for medical devices. He's the founder of several successful medical start-up companies and co-director of CAMC Vascular Center of Excellence in Charleston.The Hurricane native will speak at the fourth annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit on Jan. 28. The summit will highlight the impact of the bioscience industry in the region and showcase research and commercialization efforts under way at West Virginia universities and companies.
