MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University has launched a national advertisement for its next president.

The advertisement on The Chronicle of Higher Education's website seeks applications by a Feb. 21 deadline, the Dominion Post reported. Candidates must submit résumés, letters of interest and five references.

WVU is seeking a successor to Jim Clements, who left for Clemson University. E. Gordon Gee is serving as interim president.

WVU has formed a 20-member search committee and wants to have a new president in place by the fall 2014 semester.
