Icy roads close Interstate 77 near Sissonville
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Southbound lanes of Interstate 77 are closed at mile marker 106 near Sissonville because of extremely bad road conditions.
Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said the road was closed about 8:30 a.m. today, with cars being unable to move due to icy conditions. Division of Highways salt trucks have been requested to treat the area.
A Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher said heavy morning snows that quickly covered roadways contributed to 13 accidents between about 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. No one was injured, but drivers were urged to drive carefully.
