St. Albans man helped hide body, police say

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- St. Albans man helped his girlfriend hide her mother's body following a slaying last week, police said.Kanawha County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday charged Shawn Legg, 31, with being an accessory to murder after the fact.Legg allegedly moved in with his girlfriend, Jessica Lee Woods, following the slaying of Wood's mother on Feb. 9, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.Police believe 36-year-old Jessica Woods killed her mother, Eva Linda Woods, 59, and then dumped her body inside a shed behind their West Main Street home. Police charged Jessica Woods with first-degree murder on Monday.
Police previously interviewed Legg who said he began dating Jessica Woods about two weeks ago.He had been staying with Jessica Woods and she told him that her mother lived out of town. Legg told police he never saw Eva Woods at the house, according to the complaint.On one occasion, Legg told police, someone had been at the house knocking on the door, but Jessica Woods told him and her children not to answer it.Legg was awaiting arraignment in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on Tuesday night.
