State delegate shot in leg returns to House

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Monongalia County lawmaker has returned to the West Virginia House of Delegates after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg in January.Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston said Del. Anthony Barill was asleep on Jan. 25 when a bullet went through the floor and the bed and hit him in the lower leg.
Barill told police that his son, Bradley Barill, might have fired the shot. Police said Barill's son apparently committed suicide. He was found in the residence.A Democrat, the 80-year-old Barill is serving his second term in the House. He is a former sheriff and magistrate. He underwent physical therapy and had a cast on his leg. In his return to the House floor Monday, Barill thanked his colleagues for their prayers and support.
