CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Daniel Kessler said Thursday he was on the way to his business in St. Albans to see why federal agents were there.Kessler owns Diversified Services LLC, which hauls Crude MCHM for Freedom Industries and has been hired by Freedom to help clean up after the Jan. 9 chemical leak."They won't tell me why they're there until I get there," Kessler said in a telephone interview.Kessler said his employees called him Thursday afternoon and said federal agents and a SWAT team were at the company located on Virginia Street North.Kessler said he thought it might be "because we're the cleanup company for the chemical spill in Charleston."He also said federal agents could be looking into complaints that a resident who lives near his company has made to the state Department of Environmental Protection.MCHM leaked into the Elk River from a tank at Freedom Industries on Jan. 9 and contaminated the drinking water for 300,000 West Virginians.U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office is conducting a criminal investigation into the leak.Goodwin wouldn't comment Thursday about why FBI agents were at the company.
