Adam Franklin O'Connor

Adam Franklin O'Connor, 34, of Charleston, passed away September 8, 2017, at his home after a short battle with cancer. Adam was born in Charleston, January 27, 1983, to Roger and Mary O'Connor.

He graduated from Capital High School in 2001. Adam was previously employed with Capital Beverage Company, American Electric Power, Charleston Newspapers and currently employed as a Maintenance Man for O'Connor Properties.

Adam was a loving father, son and brother, and an avid outdoorsman. He spent countless hours on lakes, rivers and in the woods with his girlfriend, Christina Duff, and cousin, Robert Shamblin. He was an athlete who enjoyed playing and watching sports, such as baseball, basketball, football and golf. Adam loved teaching his girls, Katie and Emily, how to play softball, swing a golf club and how to swim, along with his nephew, Aaron.

Adam could be the life of the party and enjoyed spending time with family, telling jokes and sharing his hunting adventures. He enjoyed cooking on the kitchen stove or outdoors on the grill and absolutely loved making deer jerky and sharing it with others while telling stories of how he tracked that deer, dressed it and processed it.

He will always be remembered for his big smile and his big heart. There were many times when he literally gave people the shirt off his back and shoes off his feet.

Adam is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Noble Legg; paternal grandparents, John and Nona O'Connor; and uncles John "Pat" O'Connor and Donald O'Connor.

He is survived by his parents, Roger and Mary; children, Katelyn and Emily O'Connor and Brionna Adkins; brother, Austin O'Connor and wife Tera; sister, Lauren and boyfriend Timothy "Buck" Buckhannon; girlfriend, Christina Duff; grandmother, Velma "Bonnie" Legg; nephew, Aaron Buckhannon; niece, Adrian Buckhannon; and many extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to his children's college fund. Make checks payable to Katelyn, Emily and Brionna Educational Trust, 878 Chester Road, Charleston, WV 25302.
