Power snaps slide with 9-6 win over Greensboro

West Virginia scored runs in every inning except the seventh as the Power downed Greensboro 9-6 at Appalachian Power Park, snapping a three-game losing streak.Greensboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Power matched it in the bottom half with three singles and a throwing error.West Virginia continued to add runs to the scoreboard with a pair in the second, including a Carlos Mesa solo home run.Greensboro starter Josh Hodges gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits in four innings. Hodges allowed two walks and struck out two but did not figure in the decision. The loss went to John Omahen (1-2).

Orlando Casto (1-2) earned his first win of the season with five innings of relief work, keeping the Grasshoppers bats at bay with only four hits allowed down the stretch.Gregory Polanco led the Power (8-16), going 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Alen Hanson contributed three hits.West Virginia begins an eight-game road trip today in Asheville, N.C., with a doubleheader against the Tourists beginning at 5:35 p.m.
