Prep sports: Catholic girls remain unbeaten
Hannah George scored three goals as Charleston Catholic remained unbeaten with a 7-0 win Saturday at Poca in girls high school soccer.
Sarah Joseck, Payton Mullen, Sophie Bumgarner and Peyton Keener chipped in one goal apiece for the Fighting Irish (4-0) while Annie Crockett and Emily Holmes had one save apiece. The Dots fell to 2-3.
Ryan Henry and Brooke Reed combined for nine saves for Sissonville (5-2).
Kristen Brinkley made eight saves for PikeView (4-2). Bailey Aab had seven saves for Hoover (3-3), which had a goal waived off.
Josh Smith tallied for the Vikings and Chuck Sleboda had 10 saves.
Football - Friday's game
Marcum, who completed 13 of 25 attempts, hit Kade Doss with an 11-yard scoring strike in the third quarter.
Marcum also had a pair of 7-yard TD runs and, on defense, contributed five tackles and an interception for the Wildcats (2-0).
For debuting Shady Spring, Adam Weeks had a 5-yard scoring run on fourth down in the second quarter. Weeks, a Class AA all-state quarterback last year when he threw just seven interceptions all season, was picked off three times by Logan.
