Hurricane scored three times in the second half to defeat South Charleston 3-2 and stay unbeaten Tuesday in boys high school soccer.The Black Eagles (3-3-0) took the on a goal by Issac Cosby, but the Redskins (8-0-0) answered with two quick goals by Ian Miles and Felipe Thompson early in the second half. Thompson added another score for Hurricane with Jonah Cosby scoring the other goal for SC.In goal, Brady Lawman made four saves for Hurricane while SC's Hunter Moles had eight. ST. JOE 3, SISSONVILLE 1: Lakin Brooks netted a pair of goals as host Class AA-A No. 12 St. Joseph upset No. 2 Sissonville. Stephan Brooks also had a goal for the Irish, while Josh Rawson scored for the Indians (8-2). Anthony Rinehart made nine saves for Sissonville, while Torin Walters stopped nine shots for St. Joseph.
NITRO 7, SA 0: Corey Tornes scored three goals as the Wildcats (6-4) cruised to a home win. Evan Eich, Alec Bailey, Chase Kirk and Matt Kahn also for Nitro, which outshot St. Albans (2-6-1) 21-14. HOOVER 3, MIDLAND TRAIL 0: Troy Silber tallied a pair of goals and Andrew Mercer scored one as host Herbert Hoover downed Midland Trail. Nicholas Brewer made two saves for Midland, and Brett Strickland stopped 10 shots for Hoover (3-5-1).
Girls SISSONVILLE 9, RAVENS-WOOD 0: Sissonville's Cassidy Lewis and Lydia Murray each scored two goals for the Indians. Madison Jones, Taylor Rhodes, Alexa Adam, Myranda Miller and Brooke Reed added goals for Sissonville (8-2), which had a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal against Ravenswood (2-4). GW 3, CATHOLIC 2: Charlie Lucente netted three goals as Class AAA No. 5 George Washington (7-1) upended Charleston Catholic. Caroline Dundervill recorded both goals for the Class AA-A No. 1 Fighting Irish (5-1-1). WINFIELD 3, SA 0: Mackenzie Pritt, Jayne Lawman and Paige Bannister each recorded a goal as Class AAA No. 3 Winfield earned a road win. Sierra Clair stopped 12 shots for the Red Dragons (1-3-1), while Faith Burchett made just one save for the Generals (8-0).
