Roundup: Nitro boys down Capital 3-1
Nitro received goals from three different players en route to a 3-1 a win over visiting Capital Wednesday in boys soccer.
Evan Eich, Alex White and Alec Miller each found the back of the net for Nitro (10-7) while Joe Wright scored the lone goal for the Cougars (5-6-2).
Nitro goalkeeper Lee Klocke made four saves while Capital counterpart Kevin Jones stopped seven shots.
William Scriptunas netted the other goal for the fighting Irish (16-0). Logan Garrison had the lone goal for the Cougars (5-6-2).
Katie Bryant scored twice for the Generals (11-1-2) with additional goals from Paige Bannister, Jayne Lawman, Micharae Thompson and Sera Grass.
Sierra Clair and Megan Russell combined to make six saves for St. Albans in the loss.
WVU SPORTS: The West Virginia women's soccer team climbed five spots to No. 16 in this week's Soccer America Top 25 rankings. The Mountaineers, 7-3-3 overall and 3-0-0 in the Big 12 conference, join Texas as the only two undefeated teams in Big 12 play.

MU SPORTS: Following a second-place finish at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational, Marshall's Nathan Kerns has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Kerns had three under-par rounds, which boosted him into a tie for the runner spot at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational in Ft. Myers, Fla., at Miramar Lakes Golf Course.
Jesus Mafouta netted a pair of goals for Marshall (8-1-1), while Tom Jackson, Nick Edginton, Jack Hopkins, Michael Hayes and Andrew Ferguson had single tallies.
