Prep roundup: Charleston Catholic boys top Fairmont Senior 3-1

Sam Revercomb scored a pair of goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic downed No. 5 Fairmont Senior 3-1 in boys soccer Saturday at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium.William Scriptunas also tallied a goal for the Fighting Irish (17-0-1). Logan Demyon netted the lone goal for the Polar Bears.
  • SISSONVILLE 4, BLUEFIELD 2: Anthony Rinehart had two goals and an assist in Sissonville's win at Bluefield. John McEldowney and Josh Rawson each added goals for Sissonville while Justin Phillips found the back of the net twice for the Beavers.
  • CAPITAL 0, WOODROW 0: The MSAC ninth-place game ended in a scoreless draw for the host Cougars (5-7-3) and Woodrow Wilson.
  • SC 2, PARKERSBURG 0: Jared Butler netted a goal as Class AAA No. 8 South Charleston upset host No. 2 Parkersburg. Rashad Kincaid also registered a goal for the Black Eagles (12-3-1). Reid Strobl made two saves for the Big Reds (12-3-2), while Hunter Moles stopped 20 shots.

  • CATHOLIC 3, FAIRMONT SENIOR 1: Peyton Keener scored two goals and Sarah Joseck added one in Charleston Catholic's win against visiting Fairmont Senior at Schoenbaum Stadium. Gabi Mascaro scored the lone goal for the Polar Bears while Irish goalkeepers Annie Crockett and Emily Holmes combined for four saves. Fairmont Senior's Kayla Delorenzo made four saves in the loss.
  • HURRICANE 2, PARKERSBURG 1: Abby Watson scored twice for the visiting Redskins in the MSAC third-place game. Hurricane (14-1-1) built a 2-0 lead before the Big Reds' Abi Johnson tallied off a corner kick from Halie Hill.
  • The Redskins' Hannah Thompson (three) and Callie McClanahan (two) combined for five saves. Mallory Craft had three stops for Parkersburg (10-4-2).
  • SA 4, RIVERSIDE 1: Hannah Myers and Katie Smith each tallied a pair of goals as St. Albans (7-7-2) earned a home win. Megan Buchko had the lone goal for the Warriors.
  • SPRING VALLEY 1, CAPITAL 1: Katie Crowder scored a goal as visiting Capital salvaged a draw with Spring Valley in the MSAC 9th-place game.
  • Emily Rhodes had the lone goal for the Timberwolves. Hannah Jack made eight saves for the Cougars (8-9-1), while Hannah Smith stopped four shots for Spring Valley.Football: Friday's games
  • WAYNE 47, SCOTT 6: Brandon Spurlock and Mason Hodge each ran for over 100 yards with a touchdown for visiting Wayne in its Class AA showdown with Scott.
  • The Pioneers (6-0) came into the game ranked No. 3 in AA, two spots behind the top-ranked Skyhawks (6-1).
    Spurlock ran 10 times for 123 yards and Hodge three times for 106 yards. Grant Ferguson hit on 8 of 13 passes for 120 yards and two TDs for Wayne, which won handily despite losing four of seven fumbles.Scott, which was limited to 193 total yards, scored in the fourth quarter on a 32-yard pass from Robert Bias to Dylan Dehart.
  • CHAPMANVILLE 20, MAN 0: Dustin Smith ran for one TD and led the defensive charge with nine solo tackles to lift the host Tigers (4-3) to a homecoming victory.
  • Brandon White carried six times for 61 yards and threw a 66-yard scoring pass to Brady Cox for Chapmanville. Deshawn Alexander also had a 2-yard TD run.The Hillbillies (2-5) were shut out for a second time this season and lost for the fourth time in five games.
