Roundup: WVU's Schwindel earns Big 12 soccer honors
West Virginia sophomore Kate Schwindel has been named Big 12 offensive player of the week in women's soccer by conference officials.
Schwindel, a Livingston, N.J., native, scored the game-winning goal against Kansas State on Oct. 5 (her eighth goal of the season) and assisted on all three of Mountaineer goals in a 3-2 win at Iowa State on Oct. 7.
WVU is in first place in the Big 12 with three regular season games remaining. The Mountaineers are at home to play Baylor and Oklahoma before traveling to finish the regular season at Texas.
WVC CROSS COUNTRY: Concord's Robby Peters and Seton Hill's Jeannie Bujdos have been named West Virginia Conference cross country runners of the week.
It is the fifth weekly award for Peters, who won the Concord Invitational on the 8-kilometer course at Pipestem with a time of 26:19.59.
Bujdos, a sophomore from Indiana, Pa., finished third out of 199 participants at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational with a time of 18:27 on the 5K course.
