Charleston, Fairmont State, Glenville State and West Virginia State follow after the first 18 holes.Individually, UC's Kelli Garrett leads the field with a 74, one stroke ahead of Wesleyan's Kayla Linger. TECH SOCCER: WVU Tech's men's team has received and accepted a bid to participate in the USCAA national tournament scheduled for Nov. 1-3 in Asheville, N.C.The eight-team tournament will also include host Warren Wilson along with the Penn State University Athletic Conference Champion, and Yankee Small College Conference champion will receive an automatic bid.Tech's first-round game will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1 against a team to be determined.
WVC TENNIS: West Liberty's Lauren Howard was named the West Virginia Conference women's tennis player of the year in a vote by league coaches. Howard posted a 9-1 record in No. 1 singles play and was undefeated in WVC matches.West Virginia State's Brittany Franco was named the league's freshman on the year. Franco went undefeated at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles positions this season.State picked up another award with John Simms being named the WVC coach of the year. Simms guided the Yellow Jackets to a 10-0 record in the WVC. It is his fifth coach of the year award.
MU HOOPS: Single-game tickets for non-conference Marshall men's basketball games are on sale at the MU ticket office. Tickets to the exhibition games are $5 for general admission. All non-conference regular season games are $10 for general admission. Tickets for all Conference USA games go on sale Monday, Dec. 10.nn
MU SOCCER: Junior Morgan Cain broke a scoreless tie in the 89th minute to lift Marshall's women's team to a 1-0 win at Southern Miss. Cain's late-game heroics improved the Herd's record to 7-9-1 (3-5-1 Conference USA). Southern Miss fell to 4-10-1, 1-7-0. Marshall goalkeeper Lindsey Kerns made seven saves for her third shutout of the season and the eighth of her career.
WVU SOCCER: The West Virginia women's soccer game at the University of Texas next Friday will be televised nationally on the Longhorn Network. The start of the game has been moved to 8:30 p.m. to accommodate the broadcast.nn

Those outside the top 10 did not qualify.In Class AAA Region 4, Winfield's Stone Bellomy (who placed 10th) made the state field as a boys qualifier and Point Pleasant's Andrea Porter (seventh) earned a berth on the girls side.In AAA Region 3 boys, Greenbrier East's Levi Snedegar (third) and Shady Spring's Tyler Kosut (fifth) qualified and on the girls side Ripley's Ali Cunningham (second), Woodrow Wilson's Emily Fedders (third) and George Washington's Adrienne Arnold (fourth) earned berths.
