WVC roundup: Glenville State trips UC 14-10
Glenville State used a pair of second-quarter touchdowns and held off a late drive by Charleston to down the 25th-ranked Golden Eagles 14-10 Saturday in Glenville.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Pioneers' Justin Feagin made a 7-yard burst for the early advantage for the home team. The Golden Eagles evened the score on Jordan Roberts' 19-yard run, capping a five-play, 73-yard drive. With just 44 seconds before intermission, Feagin hit Jake Harper on a 6-yard pass as Glenville took the 14-7 lead into halftime.
UC cut into the lead when Puma Nuredini booted a 29-yard field goal with 12:04 remaining in the game, but the Pioneers intercepted a John Knox pass with less than two minutes remaining to secure the victory.
Feagin completed seven passes for 66 yards and a touchdown while Rahmann Lee rushed for 128 yards on 22 carries. Knox hit 15 passes for 163 yards for Charleston, while Shaq Williams caught six passes for 46 yards and Roberts rushed for 142 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown.
Concord's Evin Dusold connected on 17 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Ansel Ponder caught three touchdown passes to finish with nine catches for 141 yards.
Fairmont's Bobby Vega threw for 63 yards on nine completions.
Concord's Jake Lilly led the Mountain Lions defense with 13 tackles and forced a fumble. The Falcons' defense was paced by Jake Kelly's game-high 14 tackles.
Marquis Bradley intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for West Liberty's first score. a 7-0 advantage. West Liberty pushed the margin to 10-0 when Jeff Hoak connected on the first of his two field goals on the day.
L.D. Crow threw for 124 yards and a touchdown while Dylan Lagarde tossed for 70 yards and a score for the Hilltoppers. Brandon Schroeder led the West Liberty receivers with 47 yards on three catches and a touchdown while Rose had 34 yards on six catches with a score. On the ground, Isiah Moody rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Tanner Stocker added an interception return for a touchdown for West Liberty's final score.
Andrew Jackson threw for 439 yards on 34 completions along with four touchdowns for Seton Hill. Niko Hall-Brown hauled in 11 passes for 223 yards and a score, Mike Allen had four catches for 87 yards while D.J. Carter posted seven catches for 69 yards.
