West Virginia State men's basketball team rallied from a one-point deficit with 1:54 to play for a 72-68 win over host Mount Olive at the Pickle Classic Friday at Mount Olive, N.C.David Ford hit back-to-back buckets to give the Yellow Jackets a 71-68 lead and Brandon Ross hit a free throw with three seconds remaining to seal the win. Ford netted 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds for West Virginia State (2-1), while Anton Hutchins added 14 points and nine rebounds. Deshaune Green paced Mount Olive (0-1) with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds.West Virginia State returns to action today to face Lenoir-Rhyne College at 5 p.m. in the Pickle Classic.TECH 87, FAIRMONT 83: David Rawlinson posted 25 points as WVU Tech held off a late Fairmont State rally to pick up a win at Joe Retton Arena in Fairmont, snapping the Golden Bears' two-game losing streak.
