Prep roundup: South Charleston girls edge Logan 50-48
Taieah Caswell scored 12 points to lead South Charleston to a 50-48 girls basketball win over Logan Thursday as the Black Eagles evened their record at 1-1.Hannah Tothe was the leading scorer with 13 points for Logan (1-1), followed by Shayna Gore with 12 and Kelsey Kirk with 11.
BUFFALO 57, CROSS LANES 42: Chelsey Parkins scored 13 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as Buffalo earned a home win. Olivia Dunn had a team-high 15 points for the Bison (2-0) while Tiffani Bailey added 12 and Paige Roush chipped in 11. Courtney Kendrick poured in 18 points for Cross Lanes Christian (0-1).
n NICHOLAS 55, JAMES MONROE 26: Shealyn Shafer scored 20 points to lead Nicholas County to a 55-26 season-opening girls baskeball win against visiting James Monroe Thursday.
Mykenzie Martin added 14 points and Lauren Young had 13 for the Grizzlies.
CALVARY 63, BALLARD 56: Calvary Baptist used a 19-point fourth quarter to come back and beat visiting Ballard Christian in the Calvary Baptist Tournament in Scott Depot.
Jace Heller led Calvary with 29 points and added nine rebounds and Trent Spears scored 13. Mitchell Harman also scored nine points and had nine rebounds. For Ballard, Josh Deskins poured in a game-high 35 with Raven Spencer scoring 12.
OHIO VALLEY 51, CROSS LANES 45: T.J. Miller poured in 24 points and Chance Burelson added 18 as Ohio Valley Christian (1-0) picked up an opening-round win in the Calvary Baptist Tournament. Grant Humphreys and Tyler Corbin each netted 14 points for Cross Lanes Christian (0-1).
