Prep basketball roundup: Wheeling Central girls trounce Catholic
Wheeling Central's Colleen McCormick outscored visiting Charleston Catholic by herself Saturday afternoon, tallying 27 points in the Maroon Knights' 64-26 victory.
Regan Blaha and Emily Bucon added 10 points apiece for Central (7-1).
The Irish (2-4), who were tied at 15-all heading into the second quarter and trailed just 34-24 at the half, got eight points from Anna Whelan. Catholic scored only two points in the second half.
Kiana Evans poured in 28 points for the Highlanders, while Dazha Congleton chipped in 19. Sarah Williams had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings.
A.J. Reynolds scored 10 points for Logan (2-3). Nathan McNeil had a team-high nine points for the Red Dragons (1-3).
Dominik King added 17 points while Austin Breeden and Cameron Hoston each finished with 10 points for the Patriots (3-2). Boo Osborne led Centennial with 14 points.
Dylan Rich chipped in with 14 points for the Bison (5-0), who pulled away in the second half after trailing 33-32 at halftime.
Hunter Pratt led the Irish with 16 points. Michael Mays (12) and Anthony Rabel (10) also scored in double figures for St. Joe.
Wade Martin and Alex Sommerville each scored nine points for the Big Blacks (1-4). For Cabell Midland (2-3), Dustin Scarberry scored 24 points.
