Boys roundup: Capital rallies, nips Winfield in overtime 60-57

Sophomore Aalik Harris hit a game-tying 3-pointer from the corner as time expired to give Capital new life, and the Cougars took advantage, beating visiting Winfield 60-57 in overtime in boys basketball Tuesday night.As a team, the Generals made just 17 of 35 foul shots and missed 11 attempts in the fourth quarter in overtime.Carrington Morris led Capital (4-6) with 13 points while Harris finished with 12.For Winfield (5-4), Chris Turner and Brock Pence each scored 15 points. Zach Fisher chipped in with 12 points for Winfield in the loss.
  • GW 62, CABELL MIDLAND 59: Austin Breeden hit a bucket with seven seconds left in overtime to lead Class AAA No. 9 George Washington to a home win.
  • Breeden finished with 11 points for the Patriots (6-2) while Luke Eddy and Dominic King had 21 and 15, respectively. Keegan Adkins scored 15 points for Cabell Midland.
  • HURRICANE 74, RIPLEY 58: Trey Dawson scored 17 points and Ace Estep finished with 14 points to lead Hurricane (7-2) to the victory at Ripley.
  • Rassan Harris chipped in with 12 points for the Redskins (7-2) while Cade Harrison tallied a game-high 30 points in the loss for Ripley (2-6).
  • HOOVER 45, SISSONVILLE 28: Aaron Burdette scored 17 points and Sam Schoolcraft had 12 as visiting Herbert Hoover successfully double-teamed point guard Zach Null and frustrated the Indians.

  • WYOMING EAST 75, SUMMERS 68: Four players scored in double figures as Wyoming East knocked off visiting Summers County.
  • Josh Tunstalle had 17 points, Austin Canada and Brett Bowling each scored 14 and Cody Lester finished with 13 points to lead the Warriors (7-1).For Summers County (5-3), Taron Ayers led all scorers with 34 points.
  • CHAPMANVILLE 68, LINCOLN COUNTY 36: Mackenzie Martin recorded a double-double with 23 points and 17 rebounds as Chapmanville earned a victory.

  • CROSS LANES 51, REGIONAL 41: Grant Humphreys poured in 19 points as Cross Lanes Christian (6-7) won at home.
