College roundup: Donnell, Rawlinson lead Tech to win
Kornilous Donnell and David Rawlinson combined for 45 points while Terrale Clark and Eddie Gordon finished with 15 points each as WVU Tech cruised to a 96-75 win at Barber-Scotia College.Donnell led the Golden Bears (12-9) with 23 points and nine rebounds and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line. Rawlinson added 22 points and led the team with nine assists.LaKeith Scott finished with 19 points to lead Barber-Scotia (5-18) with Aaron Davis chipping in with 18 points.Tech led by eight points, 48-40, before pulling away in the second half for the 21-point victory.The Golden Bears return home at 3 p.m. Saturday to play Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
WVU WOMEN LOSE IN OT: West Virginia led by nine points at halftime but was outscored 40-31 in the second half before falling in overtime to visiting Texas Tech 77-73.Christine Hyde led a trio of Red Raiders that scored in double digits with 19 points while Monique Smalls finished with 17 and Chynna Brown had 16. Brown also led Texas Tech (15-4, 5-2 Big 12) with nine rebounds.Bria Holmes and Averee Fields each scored 17 to lead the Mountaineers (11-7, 3-4 Big 12), who have lost consecutive games after winning three straight in conference play.WVU stays at home for it's next game when Iowa State visits the Coliseum on Saturday.
