CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Marshall released its 2013 football schedule Wednesday, a slate which includes four teams that appeared in bowl games last season - Ohio, Virginia Tech, Tulsa and East Carolina.The Thundering Herd will open its season on Aug. 31 at home against Miami (Ohio) with another home game the following week against Gardner-Webb. Marshall travels to Ohio on Sept. 14 before visiting Virginia Tech on Sept. 21.Marshall's other home games are against Conference USA newcomer Texas-San Antonio on Oct. 5, Southern Miss on Nov. 2, UAB on Nov. 9 and the season-finale on Nov. 30 against East Carolina.
"I'm certainly happy to be renewing the series with a longtime rival in Miami [Ohio]," Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick said in a release from the university. "This schedule gives our fans many drivable options and it will be great to finish the regular season, once again, with East Carolina."
The Herd is on the road for conference games at Florida Atlantic on Oct. 12, Middle Tennessee on Oct. 19, Tulsa on Nov. 16 and Florida International on Nov. 23. Marshall's two bye weeks during the season will be Sept. 28 and Oct. 26.All of Marshall's games are scheduled to be played on Saturdays, however that could change once television schedules are finalized. Conference USA's national television partners are Fox Sports Media Group and CBS Sports Network for regular season games. The league's ninth annual championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 and will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
