Prep roundup: Winfield girls nip Hurricane

Haylea Roberson netted 21 points as host Winfield defeated rival Hurricane 53-50 in girls high school basketball Monday.Mara Rhodes added 12 points for the Generals (8-10). Audrey Barber paced the Redskins (5-13) with 23 points and Abby Watson had 20.
  • CAPITAL 58, RIPLEY 40: Khadijah Lee posted 18 points as Capital posted a 58-40 win at Ripley in girls high school basketball Monday.
  • Dashia Foster netted 16 points for the Cougars while Sarah Williams added 11. Chelsey Hager paced Ripley with 11 points.
  • CABELL MIDLAND 64, SC 44: Cabell Midland held a 36-18 scoring advantage through the second and third quarters en route to a road win. Emily Pitkin scored 17 points to lead all scorers and Sierra Jordan tossed in 14 for the Knights.
  • Lina Villanueva scored 12 points to lead South Charleston while Taliah Cashwell added 11.
  • NITRO 64, LINCOLN 34: Nitro jumped out to a 22-8 first quarter lead and never looked back for a road win.
  • Savannah Shamblin paced the Wildcats (9-9) with 20 points, followed by Hallie Miller with 13 and Maddie Godbey with 10. Lindsay Prichard had nine points for Lincoln County (2-16).
  • HUNTINGTON 67, SPRING VALLEY 57: Kiana Evans erupted for 21 points as Class AAA No. 4 Huntington upended host No. 2 Spring Valley.
  • Dazha Congleton added 13 points for the Highlanders (16-3) and Alexis Williams had 10. Madison Morris, Mackenzie Morris and Sarah Kelly each had 14 points for the Timberwolves (16-3).
  • CLAY 75, ROANE 59: Brittany Gould poured in 27 points as Class AA No. 4 Clay County rolled to a win at home. Katelyn Horrocks tallied 11 points for the Panthers (15-3).
  • Becky Frye led Roane County with 14 points followed by Cassidy Taylor with 12 and Kasey Blosser 10.
  • TOLSIA 54, CHESAPEAKE 49: Junior Krista Maynard scored her 1,000th career point in the fourth quarter as Tolsia downed Chesapeake, Ohio.
  • Maynard finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds and six steals for the Rebels (13-3) while Savannah Winnett added her own double-double of 16 points and 10 boards. Jordan Porter had 17 points for Chesapeake.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 51, OHIO VALLEY 28: Olivia Hill scored 15 points, Christa Larue 13, and Gabby Harrah 10 as host Teays Valley Christian (8-10) scored a win.
  • Emily Carman led Ohio Valley Christian with 11 points and Madison Crank scored 10.
  • TUG VALLEY 65, MAN 54: Adreana Vance exploded for 32 points as Tug Valley won on the road.

  • RIVERSIDE 83, RIPLEY 64: Riverside got off to a 21-10 start and coasted to a road win. Tyus Wood had 24 points to lead the Warriors followed by Nick Light with 14, and Marcus Reed with 13.
  • Casey Smith scored 25 points to lead all scorers for Ripley and Chuck Sleboda chipped in with 10.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 72, OHIO VALLEY 34: Elias Beacom scored 24 points in leading Teays Valley Christian to a home win. Justin Wojcieszak had 22 points for the Lions (19-4) and Ben Parsons chipped in with 11. T.G. Miller led Ohio Valley Christian with 22 points.
  • WYOMING EAST 73, SUMMERS 50: Visiting Wyoming East held a 19-point second-half scoring advantage in earning the easy win win. Christian Hedinger scored 18 points to lead the Class AA No. 7 Wyoming East (11-4), followed by Brett Bowling with 15 and Austin Canada with 14.
  • TaRon Ayers' 21 points paced Summers County (8-6).
