CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston outscored Concord 41-36 in the second half to pull away from the Mountain Lions for a 71-66 men's basketball win Thursday night at Eddie King Gymnasium.UC (15-5, 11-5 West Virginia Conference) was led by Terrell Lipkins, who finished with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. The Golden Eagles also got a double-double from Fred Simpson, who finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Evan Faulker also had a solid showing with 16 points.For Concord (11-9, 7-9), Damien Tunstalle had 14 points while Jordan Davis and Mike Boyd each scored 13. Nick Moyer led the Mountain Lions with eight rebounds.UC's next game is scheduled for Saturday, when the Golden Eagles host Pitt Johnstown at 6 p.m.
UC WOMEN WIN: The University of Charleston made 14 3-pointers and four players scored in double figures as the Golden Eagles notched a 92-72 win against visiting Concord.UC (12-8, 9-7 West Virginia Conference) went 14 of 29 from beyond the arc with three made 3-pointers each from Chrissy Keir, LeAnne Ross and Jessi Cowden. MARSHALL FOOTBALL: Marshall coach Doc Holliday formally announced Thursday the hiring of Alex Mirabal as an assistant coach for the offensive side of the coaching staff.Mirabal, who had been helping the Thundering Herd with recruiting leading up to Wednesday's National Signing Day, served as an assistant head coach for six years at Florida International and was also the offensive line coach for the past three seasons after tutoring the tight ends his first three years.nn
