Prep roundup: Chapmanville slips past Sissonville 52-51
Mackenzie Martin hit a 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds to play to put Chapmanville ahead for good in the Tigers' 52-51 win over Sissonville in boys basketball Saturday.Martin, who went over 1,500 career points on the game-winning shot, led all scorers with 30 points for the Tigers (10-8). Sissonville's Zach Null led the Indians (7-14) with 23 points.
BUFFALO 62, PENDLETON 49: Levi Jordan had a game-high 26 points to lead Buffalo. Laythen Good scored 12 and Bradley Harris chipped in with 10 points for the Bison (17-3). For Pendleton County (5-12), Evan Arrington finished with 17 points while Luke Yokum and Logan Raines each scored 11.
SOUTH 50, UNIVERSITY 47: Wes Mitchem hit 3-pointer from the top of the key as the buzzer sounded to lift Parkersburg South (17-4) past University in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 5A Championship played at Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Mitchem finished with a game-high 19 points and was the only Patriot to score in double figures. Travis Tomer led University (13-7) with 14 points.
POINT PLEASANT 71, RAVENSWOOD 48: Dillon McCarty scored 22 points and Wade Martin added 15 as host Point Pleasant (11-9) knocked off Ravenswood. Jake Martin scored 25 and Keith Burgess 15 for the Red Devils (5-14).
LINCOLN COUNTY 71, RIVER VIEW 38: T.J. Arbaugh led Lincoln County (10-11) with 22 points while Schylar Kelley finished with 14 points and Chaz Wiley had 12. For River View (4-16), Ty Baker was the leading scorer with 10 points.
POCAHONTAS 49, CATHOLIC 45: Tristan Day poured in 20 points and grabbed six rebounds as visiting Class A No. 6 Pocahontas County (15-5) held on for a win over the Irish. Samantha Fletcher led Charleston Catholic (8-14) with 18 points.
ST. JOE 63, PARKERSBURG SOUTH 49: Mychal Johnson and Asia Petitte each scored 18 points to lead visiting St. Joseph past Parkersburg South. Griffin Dempsey added 15 points for St. Joe, which outscored the Patriots 23-9 in the second quarter to pull away. Taryn McCutcheon had 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists for South (14-7), while Tia Bartlett added 15 points.
SCOTT 53, SUMMERS 26: Scott's Ali Whitman scored a game-high 16 points and Jaimee Dotson add 13 as the Skyhawks (14-8) beat visiting Summers County (14-8). Tyra Wynes led the Bobcats with nine points.
