Roundup: Sissonville's Snyder named to All-Atlantic Region first team

Fairmont State senior guard Kaitlin Snyder was named to the NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region first team for the second time Thursday.Snyder, a Sissonville High graduate, is joined by fellow West Virginia Conference players Hillary Southworth (West Liberty) and Ginny Mills (Glenville State) on the first team. Southworth was also named the Atlantic Region Player of the Year.Seton Hill junior Katie Gattuso was the lone WVC player named to the second team.

  • GOLF: Six-time West Virginia Open champion David Bradshaw sits in a tie for 94th after the first round of the PGA Tour's Tampa Bay Championship Thursday in Palm Harbor, Fla.Bradshaw, a Jefferson County native who last won the State Open in 2011, opened with a 3-over-par 74 on the Innisbrook Resort's 7,340-yard, par-71 Copperhead course. He birded the par-5 No. 1 and the par-4 10th, but made bogey on Nos. 2, 5, 9, 11 and 12.Bradshaw trails leader Shawn Stefani by nine strokes entering today's second round. Others who shot 3 over on Thursday include inaugural Greenbrier Classic winner Stuart Appleby and 2010 PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer.

  • MU BASEBALL: Marshall's series opener at Rice on May 16 has been added to Fox College Sports broadcast schedule. The Herd's series with the Owls will close the regular season for both teams and lead into the Conference USA postseason tournament, which will also be at Rice's Reckling Park in Houston.

  • WVU BASEBALL: The potential for poor weather has caused changes to the West Virginia baseball schedule this weekend.
    The Mountaineers will play a doubleheader today at Kansas State, and Saturday's game against the Wildcats will be the series finale. There was originally one game scheduled for each day this weekend, but the Sunday game was moved to accommodate the weather.
