Prep roundup: Hurricane improves to 6-0 with 9-0 softball win over GW
Courtney Rogers and Linzie Reynolds led Hurricane to its sixth straight win to open the season with a 9-0 five-inning victory Wednesday over visiting George Washington.
Rogers fired a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts while also going 3 for 3 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Reynolds rapped out three hits, including a pair of doubles and a round-tripper, with four RBIs. Rachel Ward pounded out two hits for the Patriots.
BUFFALO 1, SCOTT 0: Freshman Chase Christy knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth with two outs for the host Bison. Parkins singled with one out in the sixth and moved to second on a fielder's choice before Christy brought her home. Parkins hurled a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for Buffalo (4-0). Ally Brown fanned nine and surrendered four hits for the Skyhawks (4-2) while Kellian Strange and Sara Browning each singled.
RAVENSWOOD 12, POINT 7: Terry Hatcher hit two three-run home runs and finished with seven RBIs for visiting Ravenswood. Devon Crews went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs for the Red Dragons (2-3). Tylun Campbell drove home two runs and Alex Somerville added a pair of hits and an RBI for Point Pleasant (1-4).
CAPITAL 15, HUNTINGTON 2: Mason Jack led the Cougars at Schoenbaum Stadium with five goals and three assists, while Joe Wright accounted for four goals and six assists.Christian Huffman also had two goals for Capital.
