Prep roundup: Lassiter's one-hitter leads Roane County to win

Casey Lassiter fired a one-hitter, striking out seven and walking one, to lead host Roane County to a 4-1 prep softball victory against Clay County on Thursday.Miranda Hall blasted a two-run homer for the Raiders (12-0) and Kelsie Nichols went 2 for 3 with a triple. Victoria Dorsey's triple in the first was the only hit for the Panthers (1-14) and led to their lone run.
  • SISSONVILLE 6, CLAY 0: Alexee Haynes threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Sissonville cruised to a home win over Clay County. Haynes helped herself at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI and Karli Pinkerton went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI for the Indians.
  • SCOTT 2, LOGAN 0: Chasity Ball went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and RBIs as Scott secured a road win over Logan. Allyson Johnson also added two hits for the Skyhawks (11-4). Summer Collins and Chastidy Wiley had two hits apiece for the Wildcats (6-8).
  • SC 1, RIPLEY 0: Emily Bostic's single in the bottom of the seventh inning was the Black Eagles' only hit of the game, but it brought Oliva Orcutt in to score from first base for a walk-off win against visiting Ripley. SC pitcher Alli Burdette had 14 strikeouts, while Ripley's Chelsea Hager fanned 10 Black Eagles in the loss.
  • CATHOLIC SWEEPS VAN: Brianna Ross went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs as Charleston Catholic earned a 13-5 win to open a prep softball doubleheader at Van. In the nightcap, Emma Sovick (2 for 4) collected five RBIs as the Irish won 16-1.
  • NITRO 4, CAPITAL 3: Nicole Brown drove home the game-winning run as Nitro slipped past visiting Capital. Brown finished the night 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Wildcats (5-8) while Chelsea Hall and Shelby Bowen each had two hits. Razhane Andrews and Victoria McGinnis had one hit apiece for the Cougars.
  • RIVERSIDE 10, GREEN. EAST 0: Hannah Coleman collected three hits and four RBIs as host Riverside picked up a four-inning mercy-rule win. Sara Winter added a pair of hits and RBIs for the Warriors (10-8) and Bethany Smith had two hits, a double and three RBIs.
  • POINT PLEASANT 3, CHAPMANVILLE 2: Madison Barker (2 for 3) stroked a pair of doubles and drove in two runs and earned the victory with three innings of relief for the host Big Blacks (9-5). For the Tigers, Hanna Wooten was 2 for 3 with two doubles and drove in two runs.

Katie Higginbotham went 3 for 4 with a triple while Chesley Parkins had a double and an RBI for the Bison. Reagan Johnson went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Bekah Baldwin collected two RBIs for Sissonville.
  • VALLEY SWEEPS RICHWOOD: Valley swept both games of a doubleheader at Richwood behind strong pitching performances. Kailey Cooper allowed just one run on six hits in the Greyhounds' 7-1 win in the first game and Kelsey Graves combined with Taylor Carver to hold the Lumberjacks (5-9) to just two hits in a 15-2 win in the second game.

  • VALLEY 10, FAYETTEVILLE 0: Valley's Arik McGinnis scattered four hits and struck out 12 in a six-inning mercy-rule shutout over host Fayetteville.
  • McGinnis also contributed at the plate going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Greyhounds (11-4) while Raeshawn Breckenridge, Joseph Eckert and Mark Hess had two hits apiece. James Criss went 2 for 3 for Fayetteville (8-8).
  • WOODROW 5, SC 2: Hunter Greco went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs as Woodrow Wilson earned a road win over South Charleston. Cole Williams and Brent Osborne also had two hits each for the Flying Eagles. Austin Santrock went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Black Eagles.
  • SHERMAN 10, BUFFALO 7: Duncan Breeden blasted a three-run home run and Aaron Lowe a three-run double to spark an eight-run third inning that carried the host Tide (5-6) to victory. For the Bison (1-7), Nick Gunter, Aaron Lewis and Jordan Fletcher each had two hits.
  • CLAY, ROANE SPLIT: Roane County picked up a 7-5 win in the first of two games at Clay County, with the Panthers (8-7) taking the second game 14-0 in five innings.

  • GW 13, HOOVER 5: Jack Bunn netted two goals as host George Washington downed Herbert Hoover. Sam Skinner, Andrew Rabel and Cameron Stroebel each scored two goals for the Patriots (7-1). Herbert Hoover was led by Josh Coleman with two goals and Troy Silber with two assists.
