CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia baseball team will make its fifth appearance in Charleston and first since March 23 when the Mountaineers host Morehead State at 6 tonight at Appalachian Power Park.WVU rolls into tonight's contest having won 12 of its last 17 games, including a stretch of eight in a row, while Morehead is scuffling, having lost its last 12.Freshman right-hander Brock Dykxhoorn (2-0) will take the hill for West Virginia and will try to improve on his already solid 1.50 ERA. He has given up two runs on six hits in his 12 innings of work while striking out two and walking none.The Eagles (2-17) will counter with righty Tyler Keele (2-4, 4.74 ERA).While West Virginia leads the all-time series 8-4, the Mountaineesr will be looking for a bit of revenge after Morehead took a 7-5 victory in Charleston last year.
The numbers sure seem to point in favor of WVU, whose team ERA (3.89) is over three runs better than Morehead's (6.26).Ryan Tuntland's .385 batting average leads West Virginia (20-17). The junior third baseman has seven doubles, a triple, two home runs and 22 RBIs so far.
