Cooke leads 20 Open qualifiers

Vienna's Alan H. Cooke fired the low-round of the day with a 2-under-par 69 as 20 golfers qualified for the West Virginia Open on a soggy Monday at Edgewood Country Club.The Open will be held June 17-21at Parkersburg Country Club.Cooke also had the only round under par, as Charleston's Will Evans finished second with a 3-over 74.The event included two weather delays and ended with seven golfers playing off for the final five spots.
Other qualifiers included Nathaniel Begley of Oak Hill (75); Duke Erwin of Hurricane (75); Brandon Tinney of Hurricane (76); Andrew Skeens of Charleston (77); Monte Chittum of St. Albans (78); Adam Sholes of Charleston and Cory Hoshor of Buffalo (78); Adam Kaminski of Shady Spring and Mike Lewis of Parkersburg (79);Lee Cassis of Charleston, Matthew Moore of Elizabeth, Steven Han of Charleston (80) and Travis McGrath of Cross Lanes (80); Robert Jones of St. Albans, Mike Keiffer of Scott Depot (81), Pat Parker of Charleston (81), Larry Hodges of Hurricane (81) and Scott Rowsey of Huntington (81).Elkview's Joshua Wolfe and Huntington's Jay Kaufman also shot 81s and will be alternates.For results see page 2B.
