Roundup: Herd improves to 3-0 on Canada tour
The Marshall men's basketball team picked up its third win in as many days as it earned an 81-68 win over host Western University in an exhibition game in London, Ontario on Sunday.
Freshman Kareem Canty poured in a game-best 24 points and added six assists and four rebounds for the Thundering Herd while former George Washington standout TyQuane Goard chipped in with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds.
Senior forward Elijah Pittman contributed 16 points for Marshall.
"It was our third game in three days so obviously we were fighting some fatigue," Marshall coach Tom Herrion said.
Marshall limited Western to just 6-of-36 shooting from 3-point range and led by as many as 18 points.
The Mustangs trimmed the lead to 65-61 with a little over eight minutes remaining, but Marshall ended the game on a 13-4 run seal the win.
The Herd will play at McMaster University at 8 p.m. today in Hamilton, Ontario.
WVU FAN CLUB: The Kanawha Valley WVU Fan Club will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Harding's Restaurant at the Mink Shoals exit of I-79.
The speaker will be Steve Dunlap, former West Virginia player, coach and current assistant director of development for the Mountaineer Athletic Club.
