Roundup: Davis’ two goals lead GW

Drew Davis netted a pair of goals Monday as George Washington blanked Spring Valley 4-0 in boys soccer at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium in Charleston.Andrew Davis and Jeff Hoodge each tallied a goal for the Patriots (2-0). The Timberwolves (0-1) were outshot 18-2.

  • LOCAL GOLF: The amateurs defeated the professionals 10-2 in the West Virginia Challenge Cup at Stonewall Resort's Palmer course Monday.Representing the amateurs were Mike Foust of Hurricane; Ian Patrick of Huntington; Duke Erwin of Charleston; Bryan Myers of Wheeling; Pat Carter of Huntington; Trent Roush of Mason; Chad Baldwin of Green Bank; and Brandon Tinney of Hurricane.Representing the pros were Guyan Golf & Country Club's Rick Ellison and Stuart Wiley; WVPGA President Jeff Hutchinson; Riverside's Ty Roush; Big Bend's Dave Wentz; and Riverbend's Mike Rogers; and Josh Bower and Matt Felber.During the four-ball matches, Ellison and Wiley halved their match against Foust and Patrick; while Bower and Wentz beat Carter and Roush. The amateurs won the remaining matches, finishing up 21/2-11/2 in favor of team amateur. The amateur team won every single match, with the exception of Myers and Rogers halving theirs.
