Soccer roundup: Ugarte's four goals lead Hurricane boys past Riverside
Guillermo Ugarte erputed for four goals as Class AAA No. 10 Hurricane downed Riverside 5-1 in boys soccer Thursday.Kaleb Simmons also scored for the Redskins (6-1-1). Cameron Norris had the lone goal for the Warriors (2-5-1).
SC 3, RIPLEY 0: Kwesi Wilkerson produced a pair of goals as South Charleston blanked host Ripley. Jonah Cosby also scored for the Black Eagles (5-2-1).
WINFIELD 7, POINT 1: Jesse Richmond netted a pair of goals for Winfield in a win over visiting Point Pleasant. Nathan Keefe, Ronnie Beale, Anthony Imperial, Noah Laliberty and Vladik Johns also scored for the Generals (4-3-1). Colin Peal had the lone goal for the Big Blacks.
CATHOLIC 5, PARK. SOUTH 1: Caroline Dundervill scored a career-high four goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic rolled to a road win. Payton Mullen also posted a goal for the Fighting Irish (10-0). Emily Brezler netted the only goal for Parkersburg South (3-4-1).
HUNTINGTON 2, CAPITAL 1: Tory Shackelford and Isabella Chirico produced one goal each as Huntington picked up a road win. Ally Reeves found the back of the net for Capital (4-5). Sarah Keith had six saves for the Highlanders while Jenna Bshara made four stops for the Cougars.
HOOVER 3, SHADY SPRING 2: Emilee Henry tallied three goals as Herbert Hoover (5-2-1) downed Shady Spring at the YMCA Soccer Complex in Beckley. Lauren Solock and Lyndsey Thompson scored one goal each for the Tigers.
