Soccer roundup: Hurricane girls defeat George Washington 4-1

Audrey Barber and Abby Watson each tallied a pair of goals as Class AAA No. 2 Hurricane rolled to a 4-1 win over visiting George Washington in girls high school soccer Tuesday.The Redskins (7-0) were without starting keeper Hannah Thompson due to an injury, but reserve Lake Porter stepped in to stop two shots. Hannah Ellis scored the lone goal for the Class AAA No. 4 Patriots (7-2).
  • RIVERSIDE 4, HUNTINGTON 0: Rachel Daw, Maddie McDermitt, Megan Buchko and Ashley Hancock tallied goals as Class AAA No. 14 Riverside (6-3) blanked host Huntington.
  • HOOVER 11, MINGO CENTRAL 0: Hannah Schoolcraft and Leslie Taylor tallied two goals apiece for host Herbert Hoover. Lillian Gandee, Meg Allen, Morgan Neeley, Emilee Henry, Courtney Grimm, Bethany Roush and Brianna Salisbury also scored for the AA-A No. 11 Huskies (6-2-1). Bailey Aab, Gandee and Taylor each turned in one save for Hoover.
  • CROSS LANES 4, RAVENSWOOD 2: Abbigail Holbert, Kelsey Wilmink, Katherine Legg and Kaylee Witters scored for Cross Lanes Christian (8-0). Bess Nabb tallied both goals for the Red Devils (3-5).
  • SISSONVILLE 5, ST. JOSEPH 0: Karli Pinkerton turned in three goals and Madison Jones added two goals for AA-A No. 5 Sissonville (7-1-2) at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium. Brooke Reed made two saves for the shutout.
  • WINFIELD 4, PARKERSBURG 0: Mary Lawman produced a pair of goals as Class AAA No. 1 Winfield dispensed of No. 9 Parkersburg in Winfield. Jordan Pauley and Braiden Maddox also had goals for the Generals (10-0). The Big Reds (5-3-2) were outshot 12-1.

Tyler Corbin tallied two goals for Cross Lanes, while Brent Brudich and Kyle Davis added one each.
