Prep soccer roundup: Hurricane girls win 8-2

Audrey Barber and Abby Watson each netted three goals as Hurricane downed visiting Russell (Ky.) 8-2 Monday in girls high school soccer.

Josie Kroeger and Lake Porter also had single tallies for the Redskins (11-1).

Heather Hyncye and Cara Maher scored for Russell.

  • SISSONVILLE 9, POCA 1: Madison Jones found the back of the net three times as Sissonville earned a road win. Karli Pinkerton and Taylor Rhodes had two goals apiece for the Indians (13-0-1), while Mary Schmeck and Morgan Harrison had one each. Harley Hutchens scored the lone goal for Poca.
  • CROSS LANES 4, OAK HILL 0: Kathryn Legg netted a pair of goals as Cross Lanes Christian blanked host Oak Hill. Abbigail Holbert and Kaylee Witters also had one goal apiece for the Warriors (11-0).
  • Boys

  • SC 3, SPRING VALLEY 0: Kwesi Wilkerson scored twice to lead South Charleston past Spring Valley at Trace Fork. Jared Butler added a goal for the Black Eagles (8-4-2) and Chris Brown chipped in two assists. Jacob Gordon stopped five shots for SC.
  • SA 4, TEAYS VALLEY CHRISTIAN 0: Jack Wiles netted three goals to pace host St. Albans (9-3-1). Ben Gregg tallied a goal for the Class AAA No. 16 Red Dragons and Brian Knight had 12 saves for the shutout.
  • CROSS LANES 10, CALVARY 3: Tyler Corbin netted four goals and Ian George added three more as Cross Lanes beat host Calvary Baptist. Kyle Davis tallied two goals for the Warriors (12-2), while James Jeffrey had one. Julian Fleshman scored two goals for Calvary (3-4-2) and Carter Bentley added one.

  • GW 4, PAUL BLAZER 0: Daniel Glines, Patrick Davis, Dominic DiPhillipo and Caleb McDaniel each scored a goal as George Washington (13-0) registered a win over Paul Blazer, Ky., at Schoenbaum Stadium.
  • Girls

  • CATHOLIC 3, BRIDGEPORT 0: Caroline Dundervill scored twice as Charleston Catholic pulled out a win on the road. Payton Mullen chipped in a goal for the Irish (15-0).
  • HURRICANE 6, PAUL BLAZER, KY. 1: Lauren London had a hat trick and Abby Watson contributed a pair of goals as Hurricane rolled to a road win. Josie Kroeger also scored for the Redskins while Taylor Coalter had four assists.
