Soccer roundup: George Washington girls hang on for 2-1 win over Charleston Catholic

George Washington scored a pair of first-half goals for an early 2-0 lead and held on as the Class AAA No. 4 Patriots downed Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic 2-1 in girls high school soccer Tuesday at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium.Sarah Bodnar accounted for both goals for GW (15-2-1), while Caroline Dunderville had the lone goal for the Fighting Irish (16-1). Olivia Miller made four saves for the Patriots and Annie Crockett stopped six shots for Catholic.

Bailey Aab had six saves for the Huskies. Hannah Thompson scored for the Tigers (7-8-1) and Brooklyn Meadow stopped six shots. Lindsey Thomas was held without a goal for Shady and remains one shy of the girls state career record of 132 held by Sissonville's Lydia Murray.
