Led by club pro Craig Berner, Edgewood Country Club shot a combined 304 on Monday to the West Virginia Club Team Championship at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.Philip Reale II shot a 73 for Edgewood, tying with Sugarwood Golf Course's Nathan Kerns for the low round of the day. Todd Branham, Pat Parker, and Roddy Stieger completed Edgewood's team, which beat Sugarwood by six shots.The lowest four scores from each five-man team were counted.The Sleepy Hollow team of Jonathan Clark, John May, Chuck Starcher, and Tom Spriggs won the senior division championship, defeating Edgewood on the second playoff hole.

WVU SPORTS: West Virginia women's swimming and diving junior Haily VandePoel was named the Varsity Sport Report athlete of the week on Monday.The Holland, Mich., native broke a school and pool record in the 3-meter dive (346.43) and won the 1-meter dive (297.55) at the West Virginia State Games over the weekend.After stretching its win streak to seven by beating Texas Christian on Sunday, the women's soccer team moved up to No. 18 in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.

WVU TECH MEN WIN: Freshman Akeil Williams scored on a header off of a corner kick from Juan Suarez with just six seconds left as WVU Tech pulled out a 4-3 win over Maine Fort Kent on Monday at Trace Fork.Joe Jackson, Glenroy Miller, and Dennis Fuers scored a goal for the Golden Bears (14-2-1).
MEC AWARDS: Kenneth Ridley of the University of Charleston, Urbana's D.J. Mendenhall and D'Gary Wallace and Ryan Earls of Shepherd have been named Mountain East Conference football players of the week.Ridley picked up co-defensive honors as he had six tackles and a sack to lead UC to a 17-10 victory over Glenville State last Saturday. Wallace racked up nine tackles and two interceptions in a 22-10 win over Concord.Mendenhall won offensive honors as he threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns for a 22-12 win against the nation's top-ranked passing defense in Concord last week. Earls earned special team accolades as he matched a Shepherd school record with four field goals in a win over Virginia-Wise.
