Mike Hutchinson, a former Winfield High School player, will take over the reins from Gene Estel as the Poca High baseball coach after he was approved by the Putnam County Board of Education last week.Hutchinson has served as an assistant under Estel for the past two seasons and is also on the Winfield football staff under coach Craig Snyder. He was a player on Winfield's back-to-back Class AA state championship teams in 2001 and 2002. Estel recorded a mark of 76-82 in five seasons and cited family reasons for stepping away.nn

MEC GOLF: Wheeling Jesuit overcame a 10-stroke deficit in the third round to edge Notre Dame College for the first Mountain East Conference women's golf championship at The Resort at Glade Springs.Wheeling Jesuit's Kasey Frazier earned medalist honors after shooting a final-round 77. The University of Charleston finished fourth of the nine teams.Concord shot a final-round 301 to take the 2013 Mountain East Conference men's golf championship at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
