Urbana drove 94 yards in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter to defeat the University of Charleston 24-21 in the 2013 Mountain East conference season finale Saturday in Urbana, Ohio.Urbana (7-4, 7-2 MEC) jumped out to 9-0 lead in the first quarter on a 5-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback D.J. Mendenhall and a Blaine Hafner field goal.After giving up another Urbana field goal in the second quarter, UC (6-5, 6-3) finally gained momentum with an interception deep in Blue Knight territory. UC took advantage of the turnover when quarterback John Knox connected with Davon Henry on a 16-yard touchdown pass to cap a five-play, 31-yard drive, bringing the score to 12-7 at halftime.UC took the lead in the third quarter with an eight-minute, 80-yard scoring drive to jump out to a 14-12 lead. The Blue Knights scored a touchdown just two plays into the fourth quarter before giving up a rushing touchdown to Knox on UC's ensuing drive, making the score 21-18 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
UC used a 69-yard punt to pin Urbana on its own 6-yard line with 2:36 left. Urbana, trailing by three, connected on seven straight passes, with the last being a 9-yard score for a 24-21 lead with only 23 seconds remaining.SHEPHERD 41, CONCORD 33: At Athens, Shepherd (10-0, 9-0) clinched the inaugural MEC title with a win over Concord.
