Maynard, Chris Darby and Matt Queen.Wayne went 13-1, losing to Bridgeport in the Super Six state finals, halting a 36-game winning streak that tied the all-time state record held by Ansted (1970-73).Sissonville and Mingo Central each placed seven players on the All-Cardinal first team. WVU SOCCER: WVU women's soccer forward Frances Silva has been named to the 2013 Soccer America MVP second team. The Kansas native is the fourth Mountaineer to earn the honor and is the only Big 12 Conference student-athlete recognized. Silva led the conference in goals (15), assists (13) and points (43).nn
YOUTH BASKETBALL: Applications are available for the Hilltop Grade School Girls Basketball Tournament at Sherrard and Moundsville middle schools beginning Feb. 21.The tournament is open to all age groups and there will be separate brackets for fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
