Xavier Humphrey poured in 24 points as the Charleston men's basketball team rolled to a 95-63 Mountain East Conference win Monday over Notre Dame College Monday night in South Euclid, Ohio.Aleksander Kesic netted 17 points for the Golden Eagles (9-4, 6-3 MEC), who have won four in a row, while Denzel Douglas chipped in 16. The Falcons (5-9, 3-5) were paced by Jarvis Huntley's 14 points.
  • STATE 81, URBANA 76: Bo King netted 20 points as West Virginia State defeated winless Urbana in Urbana, Ohio.
  • Anton Hutchins added 16 points for the Yellow Jackets (6-6, 3-6 MEC), while Dominic Phillips had 14. Danny Goins led the way for Urbana (0-13, 0-9) with 21 points.MEC women

  • UC 76, NOTRE DAME 65: LeAnne Ross netted 22 points as Charleston posted a road win over Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
  • Nicole Perry chipped in 19 points for the Golden Eagles (9-4, 5-4 MEC). The Falcons (8-4, 5-3) were led by Molly Ritz, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

  • MEC AWARDS: Fairmont State guard Stevie Browning has been named Mountain East Conference men's basketball player of the week for his efforts in leading the Falcons to a 2-0 week. Browning, a sophomore from Logan, scored a career-high 28 points, including 14 straight late in the second half, to get the Falcons past Wheeling Jesuit. He followed that performance with 17 points and eight rebounds as Fairmont State held off Concord on Saturday.
  • Glenville State's Keyanna Tate has been named the Mountain East Conference women's player of the week after leading the 12th-ranked Pioneers to a 3-0 week. Tate averaged 16.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games in wins over Charleston, Urbana and Wheeling Jesuit.

  • WVU SPORTS: West Virginia sophomore guard Terry Henderson's baseline slam over multiple defenders against Missouri on Dec. 5 has been nominated for the GEICO play of the year. The eight finalists for the award will compete to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special at 2 p.m. on March 29 on CBS.
  • West Virginia senior swimmer Bryce Bohman has been named the WVU Varsity Sports Report athlete of the week. Bohman scored first-place finishes in all four events he participated in against Pitt in the "Backyard Brawl" dual meet last Saturday at the WVU Natatorium.
  • West Virginia freshman gymnast Alexa Goldberg ranks No. 3 nationally on the uneven bars in this week's GymInfo poll. Goldberg earned her ranking following her 9.925 performance at the Mountaineers' season opener Jan. 10 at Kentucky.
