Boys roundup: Buffalo bounces back, downs Sherman

Aaron Lewis' 16 points led a balanced show Thursday night as Buffalo rebounded with a 74-54 boys basketball victory over visiting Sherman.Also for the Bison (6-2), Laythen Good scored 14 points, John Hodges 11 and Isaiah Robinson 10.Buffalo hit six 3-pointers after going 0 of 13 from distance in its previous game, a 60-43 loss to unbeaten St. Joseph on Jan. 7.Research by coach Chuck Elkins revealed that to be the first time since the 3-pointer was adopted in the 1987-88 season that the Bison didn't hit a single trey in a game."Since that rule started until the other night,'' Elkins said, "we'd had one in every game. So I guess we made history, but that's not one you want to be remembered for.''
The Tide (3-3), playing just its second game since Dec. 27, received 16 points from Blake Brewer and 11 from Corey Smith.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 73, HANNAN 55: Vlad Novak nailed five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points to lead visiting Teays Valley Christian. Parker D'Antoni scored 18 points and Zack Moore recorded 12 points and 15 rebounds for Teays Valley (10-5). Tyler Burns led the Wildcats with 26 points.

  • SPRING VALLEY 66, POINT 46: Josh Steele had 19 points and 10 rebounds to pace the host Timberwolves (3-3) to a win. Jacob Kilgore added 16 points for Spring Valley. Point Pleasant (5-6) received 19 points from Aden Yates and 17 from Alex Somerville.
