Prep roundup: Nitro girls go to 9-0

Savannah Shamblin scored 24 points and dished out 11 assists as Class AAA No. 8 Nitro added to its undefeated record with a 73-49 beating of visiting Parkersburg on Saturday. Bethany Hill chipped in with 18 points for the Wildcats (9-0) with Halie Miller contributing 14 and Tiffany Reavis 12.Brooke Kurucz and Haley Ackerman each had 13 points for the Big Reds.
  • CHARLESTON CATH-OLIC 60, ELK VALLEY 36: Charleston Catholic jumped out to a 13-3 first-quarter lead and rolled to a home victory. Hannah Gallian (20 points), Vida Imani (19) and Anna Whelan (12) all scored in double-figures to lead the Irish (8-2). Chelsea Burdette led Elk Valley Christian with 13 points.
  • POCA 54, WAYNE 26: Poca outscored Wayne 30-13 in the second half and cruised to a home win. McKenzie Ball led the Dots (3-8) with a game-high 17 points and Casey Skeens scored 12. Emily Marsh led the Pioneers with eight points.
